Call for Entry:Art and Cancer – a Collaborative Mail Art Exhibition –

The impact of cancer is broad and wide. Creating and sharing artwork with others has proven to be significant and life changing in many ways. Art and artmaking can have the power to express and connect with others, as well as to help with the process of recovery and healing.

All people impacted by cancer (e.g. someone currently living with cancer, cancer survivors, family members who support a loved one with cancer, someone who has lost a loved one to cancer, volunteers who help people living with cancer, health care providers, neighbors or acquaintances of people with cancer, etc.), are invited to submit original works of art or other creative expressions on paper (e.g. poetry or letters or reflections) about their experiences dealing with cancer.

All works of art should be created on a postcard format or foldable to fit in a standard envelope. A submission example is to create an original drawing, painting, collage, poem, etc. about your experience on a 4”x6” postcard-sized piece of paper, include address listed below on the back with a stamp, and optional message or signature, and then send via mail to be included in the exhibit.

Submissions should be mailed to:

Melissa JohnsonP.O. Box 441Skaneateles, NY 13152

Submissions received after the due date will be added to exhibit if possible and will be included in ongoing collection. All submissions will be exhibited in the Art and Cancer – A Collaborative Mail Art Exhibition at The Dove Block ProjectGeneva, New York from February 17 – February 25, 2024.  Postcards/Mail Art will be exhibited unframed in a salon style format.
