Skip Hewitt Welcome Fund

The Skip Hewitt Welcome Fund has been established to honor the memory of Skip Hewitt, a long-standing member of the Men’s breakfast, longtime volunteer, and survivor of multiple cancers.

Skip always went the extra mile to engage with new cancer patients and connect them with the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes. He was a one-person welcoming committee whose initiative and kindness caused countless individuals to become involved with CRC’s support groups and other programs. Everyone with cancer feels a certain degree of isolation. Skip’s mission was to make them feel connected.

The primary purpose of the fund will be to support CRC’s support groups and other programs that engage people with CRC on an on-going basis.

  • The fund will be used for events or expenditures that support group activities and create opportunities to engage (welcome) individuals with CRC.
  • It can also be used to support an individual from one of the groups if a specific request is made and approved by the support group leader.
  • The limit will be $250 per request if the fund amount supports the request. Requests over that amount will be determined by the Client Services Specialist and the Development committee.
